Low Cost Texas Divorce

This site is provided by Fowler, KleinHenry, Dallas, Texas.

If you have reached this site, you are looking for a low cost way to end your marriage. A low cost divorce is possible if you and your spouse can agree on all issues that have to be resolved.

You may qualify to use Low Cost Texas Divorce if you and your spouse have agreed:

  • How your assets and debts will be divided.
  • If you own real property, that the real property will be awarded to one spouse, along with the mortgage and all other liens on such property. [Note, this does not release the other spouse from liability on the mortgage - please refer to “FAQ” on this issue]
  • All pension and retirement accounts will be awarded to the spouse in whose name the account is currently held.
  • If you and your spouse have children born or adopted to this marriage, you have agreed on all of the following:
    • With which parent the children shall primarily live, and that parent will have the right to determine the residency of the child within the county they currently reside and all contiguous counties
    • That the parents will share all other rights and duties with reference to their children (for example: medical, education)
    • That the standard possession order will be used to determine the times each parent will have possession of the children; To review the standard possession order, please click here
    • That the standard amount of child support will be paid. The standard amount of child support will be computed using the guidelines published by the Texas Attorney General's office. To review a summary of the child support guideline schedule, please click here
    • That the parent paying child support will also carry health insurance on the children, and be responsible for paying the premiums, if any
    • That each parent will pay one-half (50%) of any health care costs for the children that are not paid by insurance.
If you have not agreed to any of the above items, your situation is more complicated than Low Cost Texas Divorce is designed to handle. If you would like to speak to one of our attorneys about your situation, please send your name and contact information to admin@lowcosttexasdivorce.com

Typical Solution

Until now, couples had two choices:

  1. One or both spouses hire an attorney to represent them. This process would take months to complete and cost $2,500 to $25,000 or even more per person.
  2. Represent yourself - a "do it yourself" divorce. Typically you have to visit the courthouse four or five times to complete all paperwork required. If there are mistakes in the paperwork, you will have even more trips to make which are very time consuming and costly, such as parking costs, missing work, waiting in line, etc.

Low Cost Alternative

We offer a low cost alternative. We collect the information from you, review it for completeness, create and file the documents for you and then accompany you to the courthouse for the presentation of the final agreement to the judge.

You save money, hassle, time and the frustration of having to resubmit things over and over again.

Except for one required court appearance, you will not lose valuable time away from your business and personal life.

Unfortunately, not everyone qualifies for this Low Cost Divorce Divorce service.
